The name Tania Head became synonymous with bravery and survival after the September 11, 2001 attacks. She claimed to have been on the 78th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center on that fateful day. However, beneath her apparent fight for life, a shadow of doubt began to darken her story.

Tania Head not only became a prominent figure in the World Trade Center Survivors Network but also rose to its presidency. As her survival story spread widely, questions arose about the truth of her claims.

On September 27, 2007, journalists from The New York Times revealed inconsistencies in Tania Head’s testimony, triggering an investigation that ultimately exposed her true identity: Alicia Esteve Head, the daughter of a Spanish businessman with a controversial past.

Alicia Esteve Head’s story crumbled before the eyes of the world. It was discovered that the injuries she presented as a result of the New York attacks were actually the product of a previous accident in Spain. Furthermore, her presence at the World Trade Center on September 11 was entirely false.

Tania Head’s deception left a profound impression on the history of the 9/11 attacks. Her case remains a reminder of the importance of verifying the authenticity of stories in times of tragedy and how the thirst for attention can lead to deceitful acts.

Despite the scandal, Alicia Esteve Head chose silence and disappeared from the public eye. Speculation has swirled about her fate, and to this day, her whereabouts and life in Barcelona remain a mystery, although there is speculation that she may have founded a company in the Catalan city.
